When to Start Planning Medical Care in China

As of 6 October 2026, the useful order is the service, the record, the visa category, then a date the hospital has actually offered. This page does not set a turnaround time.

    Published October 6, 2026

Direct answer. As of 6 October 2026, start by naming the service, then assemble the record, then confirm the visa category, and only then ask the hospital for a date. Do not buy a return ticket that depends on a report the hospital has not said will be ready before you leave. This page sets the order of the work. It does not set a number of hours, and it does not speak for a hospital's diary.

The shape of a checkup, once a date exists, is described in health screening timelines in China. Who is travelling, and which kind of trip that suggests, is described in three inbound patient groups.

A planning order is not a promise that a slot, a report or a treatment will be ready by a named hour.

What to settle, and what this page will not promise

Step Settle this This page does not promise
Service Checkup, record review, or a treatment a clinician has already discussed That every service can be booked the same way
Record Diagnosis, imaging, laboratory results, pathology, in a language the receiving clinician can read That a missing scan can be replaced on arrival
Review A clinician who may see the person reads the record before a treatment trip A chat reply, or admission
Visa The category that matches the purpose of the stay That a transit permission covers treatment
Date A date the hospital has offered, in writing A turnaround measured in hours
Return A ticket that does not depend on an unfinished report That every result will be discussed before departure

    A checkup

A preventive package is often organised as a morning of stations. How that morning runs depends on the hospital, the package and what clinicians add after they see you. Keep the rest of the day free until the visit is finished. A morning health checkup, station by station describes one such order. Planning a health checkup in China is where to decide which tests belong on the list at all.

Ask the hospital which results are discussed during the stay, which follow later, and in which language. Do not hold a flight for a report that was described in advance as a later document.

    A record review

A second opinion, on this page, is a clinician's reading of the record, not a message sent from an airport. The usual delays are missing pages, a translation, and the clinician's own calendar. Start that work before you buy tickets. If the record is not yet complete enough for someone to say whether a trip makes sense, the ticket is a guess.

A treatment that needs a case review

A cell therapy, or any treatment that needs an ethics review or a manufactured product, is not booked from a headline. A clinician has to accept the record before a date can be discussed. Innovation drug access in China records what an NMPA authorisation does and does not decide about three recent medicines. It is not a catalogue of treatments this site sells. China Medical Tour does not sell or source medicines.

    The visa, before the flight

China's 240-hour visa-free transit policy, expanded to 57 countries on 20 August 2026, is a transit stay for eligible ordinary-passport holders who already have a confirmed onward ticket. The National Immigration Administration describes permitted activities as tourism, business, exchange and family visits. It is not a medical visa. Confirm the category that matches a treatment stay, and read visa guidance for a China medical trip beside the current official text.

    A practical order

    • Before tickets: name the service, start the record, and confirm which visa category could apply.
    • Before departure: the hospital has offered a date, and the escort, language and lodging that the estimate assumed are confirmed.
    • On the day: follow the hospital's instructions on fasting, arrival and whether an escort must stay.
    • After you leave: later reports are followed in the form the hospital named. A new, severe or worsening symptom is not a screening itinerary. In China, call 120.

Two lines are worth keeping. Do not buy tickets before the record is complete enough for a clinician to say whether a trip makes sense. Do not change the return so that you wait in the city for a report the hospital already said would follow later.

    Where PriumCare fits in China

PriumCare coordinates the record, the translation, the appointment and the collection of later reports when that work is confirmed in your service scope. We do not diagnose, we do not treat, and we do not decide whether a checkup, a review or a treatment is appropriate. PriumCare does not mark up hospital fees. For a sudden or worsening emergency, call 120.

Does this page set a minimum number of hours before a checkup?

No. The hospital confirms whether a date is open. This page only says to settle the record and the visa category before you treat a flight as the plan.

Why can a record review not be arranged from the airport?

Because the usual missing piece is a page of the record, a translation, or a clinician's calendar. A review that starts without those pieces cannot tell you whether the trip makes sense.

Can a cell therapy be dated before a clinician accepts the record?

No. Eligibility, any ethics review and any manufactured product come before a date. An authorisation headline is not a booking.

What should the return ticket assume about reports?

Assume only what the hospital has said will be ready before you leave. Reports it described as later documents should be followed afterwards, not by holding the ticket open.

    Is a 240-hour visa-free transit stay a treatment plan?

No. It is a transit permission for eligible nationalities with an onward ticket. A treatment stay needs its own visa check.

    Who confirms the date?

The hospital that will see the person. A coordinator can ask for that date and carry the record. The coordinator does not create the slot.

    Sources and scope

Reviewed 6 October 2026. The order on this page is a planning sequence used by China Medical Tour. It is not a hospital service standard. The receiving hospital confirms every date and every report.
