TenPayGo for China visitors: payments, fees and hospital checks

What TenPayGo offers visitors to China, what to check before paying, and why hospital bills need a separate payment plan.

    Published October 23, 2026

TenPayGo is a Tencent app for visitors making payments in China. Its official website presents international bank cards, Apple Pay and supported overseas e-wallets as payment options. Before relying on it, check the options available to your account, the merchant's acceptance and the final charge. A payment app that works for meals or shopping should not be your only plan for a hospital bill.

What TenPayGo adds to a China trip

The official TenPayGo website describes payment options and everyday spending settings. For a visitor, the practical question is whether your own card or wallet works with the merchant you need to pay. Check this before a time-sensitive purchase rather than relying on a social-media demonstration.

Start from the official website's download option. If using the Apple App Store listing, verify the publisher is Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Company Limited. Store availability and account eligibility should be checked on your device. Follow the current registration and identity-verification prompts; a simplified sign-up claim is not a promise that no further checks will be required.

    Before your first payment

    1. Prepare access: Make sure you can access the email or phone channel used by the app and by your card issuer, including while abroad.
    2. Check your funding option: Use a card or wallet offered in your own account. A familiar network logo does not prove that every issuing bank, card or region is eligible.
    3. Read the payment screen: Confirm the recipient, purchase amount, currency and any displayed service fee before authorizing.
    4. Verify completion: For an ordinary purchase, check both the app's transaction status and the merchant's receipt. If the screen and card record disagree, ask the merchant and payment provider to investigate before paying again.
    5. Keep a backup: Carry another usable payment method and arrange access to cash. Store useful support details separately from the phone you use to pay.

    Fees, exchange rates and limits

This guide does not state a universal TenPayGo fee or transaction limit: the public pages reviewed do not establish one for every funding method and account. Do not assume that downloading a free app makes every payment free, or apply an Alipay or Weixin Pay rule to TenPayGo without checking.

Before a larger purchase, distinguish the app's displayed fee from your bank or wallet provider's foreign-exchange conversion and any separate charges. Ask the issuer how an overseas purchase will be billed. Confirm applicable limits in your account and with the merchant. Do not split a bill to evade a limit or verification requirement.

TenPayGo, Weixin Pay and Alipay+: which distinction matters?

TenPayGo is a visitor-facing app; Weixin Pay is the payment service whose merchant acceptance is referenced in its product description. Alipay+ explains that it connects multiple payment methods, while Alipay is a payment app. These names do not describe interchangeable accounts.

    Your situation Useful check
You already have a working payment app Confirm acceptance and charges before adding another app.
You prefer a home-country wallet Check that the wallet and merchant support the intended cross-border payment route.
You want to use Apple Pay through TenPayGo Check eligibility inside TenPayGo; do not assume this means every shop accepts a direct contactless Apple Pay tap.
You need transport or another local service Confirm access to that service separately; payment setup alone does not complete its registration or booking.

Hospital payments need a separate check

The official TenPayGo site includes healthcare among its spending categories. That is not proof that a particular hospital cashier, international department, online booking system or inpatient-deposit process accepts your funding method.

Before an appointment or admission, ask the provider:

    • Which payment methods are accepted for registration, tests, treatment and deposits?
    • Is the amount within both the provider's and your account's limits?
    • Who is the recipient, and what receipt or invoice will you receive?
    • If a payment needs to be corrected or refunded, which office handles it and what records are required?

A successful cafe payment does not verify a hospital payment route. Obtain the provider's payment instructions before relying on an app for a substantial bill. Keep hospital charges separate from coordination-service fees and travel spending; consult PriumCare's payment and refund guide for our own arrangements. This article does not announce TenPayGo as a new PriumCare collection channel.

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Chinese bank card to consider TenPayGo?

The official site offers international-card and overseas-wallet routes. Check whether your particular funding method and account are eligible, and complete the verification requested in the app.

Is TenPayGo always free to use?

Do not assume so. Check the charge shown before payment and any separate fees or exchange-rate terms from your bank or wallet provider. A free download is not a universal fee exemption.

Can I use TenPayGo to pay any hospital in China?

Do not assume universal acceptance. Ask the hospital about the exact bill, cashier or online channel, accepted funding methods and limits before paying.

Should I replace my existing payment app?

Start with what already works for your trip. An additional app is useful only if it solves a specific acceptance or access problem. Keep a backup regardless of the app you choose.

This independently written guide was prompted by verawang's Xiaohongshu post about TenPayGo. Product facts were checked against the official TenPayGo website and Tencent's App Store listing linked above; the Alipay+ distinction uses its official consumer guidance. Unverified launch statistics, wallet counts and comment-thread fee claims have been omitted. Current in-app conditions and the provider's written instructions take precedence over this guide.
